Private Label Jewelry: Packaging, MOQ and What the Factory Needs From You

Running a private label jewelry programme: the five brand assets factories need, typical MOQs and costs for packaging elements, and the sequencing that avoids delays.

Private label is where volume buyers separate from resellers. The piece itself is often the easy part; the brand layer, boxes, cards, barcodes and logo application, is where timelines break and costs hide. A workable private label programme is specified with the same discipline as the jewelry.

The five brand assets a factory actually needs

Logo files in vector

AI, EPS or PDF in curves. A PNG lifted from a website will be redrawn by the factory art department, charged as a service fee and returned worse than the original.

Pantone references for every printed colour

“Matching brand blue” invites a colour dispute on a shipment you have already paid for. Give Pantone numbers for box, card and ribbon.

Barcode and label content

EAN or UPC per SKU, plus any legal lines your market requires on the card (country of origin, material statements, maker details).

Box specification

Dimensions, material, foam or flock insert, finish. Sample a real box before committing: the piece-to-box fit is a physical check no render replaces.

Where the logo goes on the piece

Laser engraving inside a ring or on a clasp tag, stamped tag on a chain, or a hang tag only. Each has different tooling cost and MOQ implications.

Typical private label MOQs and costs
ElementTypical MOQIndicative cost
Printed box, custom size 500–1,000 boxes 0.25–0.70 per box
Branded cards 1,000 cards 0.03–0.12 per card
Laser logo on piece 100–300 pcs 0.08–0.25 per piece
Custom metal tag 1,000–3,000 tags 0.05–0.15 per tag
Ribbon and wrap 1,000 sets 0.05–0.20 per set

Indicative ranges for 2026 factory-direct pricing; order all brand elements from the same factory where possible to avoid assembly mismatches.

Sequencing that avoids delays

Approve the jewelry sample first, then order the box against the real piece, not the render. Run the packaging and the jewelry on the same production calendar and inspect both in one pre-shipment inspection. Brands that buy packaging separately from a printing house absorb a second freight leg and a matching risk they rarely budget for.
